Lil Diva - Shaded Golden Napoleon
Shaded Golden Napoleon

My name is Margie Gardner and I am the owner of Creators Cattery. I am the current Napoleon Breed Chairman elected in Spring '09 by unanimous vote. By running and accepting this position, my intent all along was to advance the Napoleon Cats through our cat association, TICA.

Creators Frenchie Petit Chaton

Being willing was step one. What I bring to the table are several things: 1. I have been breeding cats since 1987 first with Persians then in 1996 with Munchkins and began dabbling with Napoleons not long after that. So, appropriately, I am quite at home with the hybridizing of my first love (the Persians) with the Munchkins in producing this breed that has claimed the very best of both parent breed groups. 2. I know that this advancement cannot be done alone. This requires communication both orally and written to the broader group. Any lack of knowledge that I have, I will own up to it but open and civil communication with the broader group is immensely important. Our influence by numbers both in "numbers of Napoleon kittens registered" as well as "numbers of Napoleon breeders/catteries" will help influence the board. Knowing this and being determined to carry it out, is vital for any BC.  3. Understanding that you need a good team will also help in our journey.  I am not a one-man show. I have my opinions, don't get me wrong. But I lead by consensus. I gladly work with and rely on those around me that are helping in the cause. Peg Chenault of Resqumefarms Cattery and Dawn Lott of Bluebonnet Cattery both are committee members with various and necessary attributes that help this process. We may muddle through aspects of this process but we are willing to fight for the Napoleons, committed in time and deed to the process required, determined to keep the necessary debate civil and above board, and relish the opportunity to work with new breeders (and veterans) in encouragement and unity during this effort.

Creating great looking Naps require money, committment, and an eye for the recipe of "the look." Most of my "queens" were the best of my own productions over the years. I know their bloodlines and their personalities and they have been hand selected. This helps give me a boost. Second, I have some daunting goals set before me. Quality - yes - it is always a challenge. I have brought in some highly select Persians for my outcrossing...currently a Chinchilla Persian male and a Chocolate Van Persian male.  If I purchase a kitten from outside my cattery - I am extremely picky (ask anyone who I have drilled) but purposeful in my selections.  See a few pictures of my purchases.

If you enjoy the eye candy of my Napoleons on display, then contact me about a kitten.

Personally, I have been breeding cats since the mid 80's. I began with the Persian breed as I had always loved their sweet look and luxurious coats. Then in the mid 90's, I was introduced to the Munchkin breed and added them to my harem as I slowly phased out my Persian breeding program. The Munchkins were a delightful new breed, full of expression and wonderful unique traits - healthy and just plain adorable. I always preferred the rounder faces even on my Munchkins so as the Napoleons came on the scene, it became apparent that this was the best fit for me - combining my original love of the Persian breed of years ago with the special traits of the shortlegged Munchkins. So, now here at Creators Cattery, I am concentrating solely on the Napoleons. I am active in the Working Breed Group and work with the Napoleon Breed Committee as a Breed Chairman. Please feel free to check out my website for more information about me and my cattery.

My Motto:  I want it all in my cats!

I obviously think that the short legs are cute - they are!  And, I love the rare and unusual colors - the delicious ones like silver and lilac and chocolate and calicos and all the varieties inbetween. When you come to my house to see one of my gorgeous girls curled on my couch, I want you to immediately marvel at "oh how gorgeous your cat is!"...but then I also relish when you call me a week or so after the purchase of your little kitty to ramble on and on about what an awesome personality your little kitty has and that you didn't knowo that cats could be so sweet and outgoing. It is music to my ears.
